Just starting my eleventh week of training--six weeks to go before Nov 7. Who else is running Wynne? I'm training slow, but will race hard. Hope you are staying healthy? Getting plenty of sleep? Blessings to you!! my fellow runners, walkers, volunteers, supportive family members!

I'm doing the Soaring Wings Half Marathon this year. I've done the Mid South Half Marathon several times & thought I would do a different Half Marathon this year. Good luck to all... _________________ Gotta run for now!!! |

Already signed up for the Mid South, Soaring Wings, and St. Jude's.
Half.
This is my favorite distance--will push myself but not race.
Still trying to decide where I want to head in January.
Heard St.Jude half already full!! _________________ "Impossible is a word we created to make ourselves feel better about not trying." |

It was brutal. The wind was the worst I ever encountered. I can't tell if I hit the wall or whatever. I am so sore my teeth hurt. And I am about 10 minutes slower than I wanted to be! Mama tol' me there would be races like this...

As a matter of fact if understood correctly it was a PR for Little Miss Sunshine! And that is something to be proud of. The conditions were terrible this was another fight back the tears race...yes it was that bad. I literally thought I was going to be pushed off the road by the winds. Some dropped out and one collapse at the finish. Brutal conditions....i'm with Jon it just wasn't our day.
The guy at the finish asked me if I needed the paramedics. Did I look that bad???? _________________ Jennifer D. |

To those of you who finished......... Congratulations! I know it had to be miserable out there.
You have to be mentally strong to run in those conditions. I would have folded _________________ If you don't see the sun rise, you're not getting the most out of your day. |

Jen, you looked cute, just like always.
How does a person run 26.2 miles and look like THAT??
I had delusions of grandeur, pre-race, but that was not to be. Still a PR for me by 1 minute and 17 seconds.
IMAGINE HOW MUCH BETTER I COULDA DONE WITH DINSELL THERE TO MOTIVATE ME TO GLORY.
I did the Galloway again.
Some of my MUCH FASTER running buddies have been prodding me NOT to do the walking thing to get a faster time.
I don't know. Not convinced of that. At mile 11.5 I passed 2 of my AG competitors--and only cause they were DEAD TIRED. The last mile I did a 9 and a half minute mile-- which for lots of you is WALKING--but for me is sizzling fast. I don't think I coulda done that if I had not had those walking breaks.
But I don't know. As Rick said, whichever you choose--that's your destiny...........
A race to remember:
One of my friends from our local running group had an asthma attack and was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Another one said she cried the entire last mile. I told her SHE IS MY HERO cause she didn't quit. _________________ "Impossible is a word we created to make ourselves feel better about not trying." |
