| I've been registered for several weeks. I figure it'll be a decent sized crew. |

Don't go out too fast... it's not a 5k. Run with someone you know for a few miles. If after 3 or 4 you're feeling good start passing people. It's great motivation to keep that pace going. _________________ If you don't see the sun rise, you're not getting the most out of your day. |

Your adrenaline will kick in. The road would be lined with cheering and clapping bystanders and you would feel pump and excited. You will do fine. _________________ " sometimes you have to fail to succeed " |

Good luck on your first 10K, ndriver; you'll do fine. Robert & MOrunner gave some real good advice. Also, there is a neat tool on the front page of this web site (down at the lower right side) - McMillan training calculator that can calculate your pace for any distance. Looking at your very nice results at the 2 Mile & 5K races, you averaged about an 8:55 per mile pace; so I would suggest slowing to about a 9:25-9:55 pace for the first 3 or 4 miles and see how you feel. Then adjust your speed as you get closer to the finish over the last couple of miles. Then celebrate your new PR. |
