I've been registered for several weeks. I figure it'll be a decent sized crew.

Don't go out too fast... it's not a 5k. Run with someone you know for a few miles. If after 3 or 4 you're feeling good start passing people. It's great motivation to keep that pace going.

Your adrenaline will kick in. The road would be lined with cheering and clapping bystanders and you would feel pump and excited. You will do fine.

Good luck on your first 10K, ndriver; you'll do fine. Robert & MOrunner gave some real good advice. Also, there is a neat tool on the front page of this web site (down at the lower right side) - McMillan training calculator that can calculate your pace for any distance. Looking at your very nice results at the 2 Mile & 5K races, you averaged about an 8:55 per mile pace; so I would suggest slowing to about a 9:25-9:55 pace for the first 3 or 4 miles and see how you feel. Then adjust your speed as you get closer to the finish over the last couple of miles. Then celebrate your new PR. Very Happy Cool
